Social opportunities

When joining a new Club, we realise how important it is that you know you will have the opportunity to play tennis regularly and that you are welcomed into a friendly environment.
After your tennis relax and socialise in the club's new licensed bar and café.
Abbeydale promises and delivers on both of these areas by offering many and varied tennis and social opportunities.
The Club has a newly formed social committee, who help plan and organise the social calendar for the year. We are always open to new ideas or offers of help in organising events.

New for 2009

Family Fun - Mother and Son, Father and Daughter family Tournament
Cardio tennis - Increase your fitness through fun based cardio tennis
Pro-Am Tournament - Partner one of the Club's professionals
Battle of the Sexes Season Opener - Mens select team versus Ladies first team
Wimbledon Strawberry and Wine Night - Distribution of Abbeydale's Wimbledon ticket allocation
Club championships - Open and handicapped, singles, doubles and mixed.

Junior Social Fridays

Every Friday evening, the Club runs a social evening for the juniors, which includes tennis / table tennis and football, supervised by Reception staff and older teenage junior members.

Social Nights and Tournaments

Summer Social Nights: Tuesday 6pm - 10pm

We run social nights twice a week for members and their guests, organised by the club's head tennis professional Adam Jameel.

Just turn up and play!! - Adam is always on hand to organise members into suitable pairs.
Summer social tennis is outside on Tuesdays 6.00p.m and is free to all members, so what are you waiting for? Come and join in the fun !!

Winter Social nights: Tuesday 7pm - 10pm

Indoors, due to our lovely climate, but run with exactly the same format as Summer Social but with a slightly later start time of 7.00p.m. Due to Winter Social being played indoors there is a nominal charge but members can play up to three hours indoor tennis each week.

Social tournaments

Abbeydale hold twelve ( monthly ) Social American Mixed tournaments which are normally held on the last Sunday of each month and are very well attended. We combine the tennis with a barbeque (Summer) or similar (Winter).
