Covid 19 Update from Abbeydale Tennis Club – Coming very soon.

Following The Prime Minister’s Statement of 22/09/20, we are all aware that there will be some changes from Thursday 24th September 2020.

We are urgently seeking clarification from our Governing Body, The Lawn Tennis Association ( LTA ) and hope to be able to issue full Guidelines to members later today or tomorrow.

We have been assured that The LTA are discussing the correct new protocols with The Sports Minister surrounding Face masks in Tennis Clubhouse, ( which was previously not required in Sports Clubs ), team sports ( doubles ) being played indoors and rules affecting hospitality such as seated service only, plus bar serving times.

We are expecting that Indoor Tennis will be able to continue, but need clarification on maximum participation numbers under the new rules.

Like all premises that have bars, we are fully expecting we will have to stop serving alcohol at 10pm and that we will have to introduce Table Service only fin the Clubhouse for all drinks from Thursday.

The Club has subscribed to the Track and Trace Scheme and we already have the QR Codes round The Club and when the Government launch the scheme tomorrow all members / guests will have to scan our unique QR code on their phones upon arrival and there are several codes both inside and outside The Club.

For members wishing to check The LTA’s advice that we are receiving there is a Covid-19 Venue update on The LTA’s website which can be found at https://www.lta.org.uk/about-us/tennis-news/news-and-opinion/general-news/2020/march/coronavirus-covid-19-advice-for-venues/

However, as you will see the last LTA update on The Covid 19 update for venues was on 14th September 2020

As soon as we have further updates from The LTA and we can offer accurate guidelines ahead of Thursday morning, we will issue them on The Club website and also through ClubSpark e-mail notification.

Best Wishes

John & The Team
